Boxers Today vs Yesterday
Some boxers today seem like they don’t have the love for the sweet science.
The training it takes for a big fight pro or amateur is remarkably different. So fighters these days get too comfortable after a fight. Take it easy and want to chill then when a fight comes up 6 to 8 weeks out, their camp basically involves them getting into fighting shape as well as working on skills, instead of just coming into cap nearly on weight and sharpening skills.
Fighters from my era and before me trained extra hard. Now I’m not saying this era don’t train hard but it’s a little different.
Fighters are more scared of a real challenge, or take that L or lose that 0. Scared to lose the O is the Mayweather Syndrome these fighters developed because of how Floyd ran his defensively masterful career.
Floyd set a standard so high that many fighters under this banner and others like minded want to duplicate the same success.
Abdul Wahid formerly known as Gervonta “Tank” Davis is the only fighter close to what Floyd was when he was Pretty Boy.
