This is a great write up indeed. Well I've worked in Hollywood before and I know how they love to jump on social issues and make their versions of it for the big pay day. Well, I am an independent screenwriter and filmmaker. I've written a couple of scripts dealing with the issues we as people of color been dealing with for centuries. I know Hollywood will not touch it because it brings truth, facts and no spinning of Hollywood's tell tell story telling. When my son was murdered unjustly back in 2015, I rewrote an old script due to the emotional roller coaster I went through dealing with the cover up and so forth of my son't death. I'm writing a new social issue script today which will again be another eye opener but at the same time, I need like minded people to believe in me to tell and film these stories. Thanks for your writing on this and maybe you will see one of my movies in the very near future.
